Un Samayal Arayil is a 2012 Indian romantic comedy film written and directed by Prakash Raj. A bilingual, simultaneously made in Tamil and Telugu languages, it features Prakash Raj in the lead role, along with Tabu.[1]. The film features the original score and soundtrack by Ilaiyaraja.
The film follows the love stories of two couples. The main characters being an archaeologist (Prakash Raj); a dubbing artiste (Tabu); an IELTS student and a happy-go-lucky management graduate. Food plays an important role in the story.
Based on the Malayalam film Salt N' Pepper by Aashiq Abu,[2] Un Samayal Arayil is slated for a 2013 release. Its Telugu version is titled Ulavacharu Biriyani.

Versatile actor Prakash Raj is Ready to wield the megaphone once again with the remake of Malayalam superhit ‘Salt N’ Pepper’. ‘Salt N’ Pepper’ was directed by Aashiq Abu with Lal and Shweta Menon in the lead roles.
Prakash Raj has bagged the remake rights of the film in both Tamil and Telugu. Besides directing the film, Prakash Raj will also be acting and producing the film. The film has been titled ‘Un Samayal Arayil’ in Tamil and ‘Ulavacahru Biriyani’ in Telugu and both the versions will be shot simultaneously.
Prakash Raj will be the protagonist, while Tabu will play his pair in both versions. The film will be a love-story happening between two middle-aged people and food will be an integral part, connecting them.
The actor has roped in Ilayaraja for the music score.
