Hello Dear Mr JohnCD I have been added some references after the 21st day of January to my article in Wikipedia.Regarding this I wanted to request for restoring and recreating my post in your site. In addition, this article under the name of عبدالرضا رزمجو currently exists in the Persian section of Wikipedia. All the Best Farkoh (talk) 22:21, 27 January 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Farkoh (talkcontribs) 22:03, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will reply tomorrow - I have no more time tonight. JohnCD (talk) 22:54, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I take your point that you amended that article after the delete !votes were placed on 20 Jan; but I have looked carefully at the changes you made and in my opinion they do not overcome the reasons for deletion. However, to be fair, I will tomorrow send to the nominator and the two who said delete a description of the changes you made, and ask whether they were aware of them and, if not, whether they would have changed their mind. I will copy my question to you on your talk page.
Whether there is an article in :fa does not affect the discussion here - each Wikipedia has its own standards. User Farhikht (talk) was evidently able to read the Persian article. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:50, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Longdendale Community Language College

Any chance you can have a look over at Longdendale Community Language College it's been vandalized 46 times this evening already and it seems no-one is monitoring ARV, cheers GimliDotNet (talk) 22:09, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I have blocked the vandal, and watchlisted the article in case he comes back under another name. Thanks for the report. JohnCD (talk) 22:13, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, much appreciated. GimliDotNet (talk) 22:17, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have to ask, why did you delete Kenny Meiselas? I saw that Bam21 (talk · contribs) tagged it as {{db-g7}}, but that looked rather odd, as the article was in good condition. ─═KlilidiplomusTalk═─ 17:59, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I did wonder, but Bam21 tagged it very emphatically, four times - "Replaced content with {{db-g7}}, {{db-author}}, {{db-self}}, {{db-blanked}}" - so there was no doubt about what s/he wanted. I will leave a note offering to bring it back if s/he has a change of heart. JohnCD (talk) 18:42, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

All it said was "hes cool". That's not an encyclopedia article. "Anyone can edit" doesn't mean "anyone can put whatever they like", and Wikipedia isn't a social-networking site for gossip about your friends: it's a serious project to build an encyclopedia. Have a look at the guide to writing WP:Your first article, and at the List of bad article ideas, no.15. JohnCD (talk) 21:23, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank you for the deletion of the page. I did not mean to delete it as emphatically as I did--I am new to adding and creating articles here. I would like to ultimately put the page back up, but I'd like to work a little more on the quality of the article and get some more information before the page goes live. Is there any way you can message me the code that was behind the page that existed so that I can play around with it before resubmitting?

Thank you again for your help!

In order to preserve a neutral point of view, Wikipedia does not like people to edit directly articles about their clients or employers. Please read my message on your talk page at User talk:ToscaAtHome, and the guidelines linked from it, and then, if you have questions, ask them at the bottom of that page - I will watch the page, and we can have a conversation there. JohnCD (talk) 16:14, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mark Gurman, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. :- ) DCS 02:00, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) I've reverted the page back to your original redirect instead of the speedy above. Calabe1992 02:05, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. This notice should have gone to the person who re-created the article - I'll leave him a note. JohnCD (talk) 10:31, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Wikipedia is not for things only you and/or your friends believe in. We only take information from reliable sources. Jasper Deng (talk) 03:18, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's right. Wikipedia has a policy called Wikipedia:Verifiability which says that "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source." What somebody told somebody isn't enough, nor are blogs, Facebook, places where anyone can say anything. Wikipedia:Reliable sources tells you what we mean. I was on this mfd discussion and saw that you said you deleted the article containing that content. Was that article exactly like the user page now in question? Yes, it was identical apart from an image which has been deleted from the user page. Certainly, in form the user page comes under FAKEARTICLE, but the content doesn't seem to me excessive. Regarding page deletion

for what reason you have deleted my Dindigul offers page — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vinothkumardgl (talkcontribs) 11:59, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Because (a) it was an advertisement and (b) it did not show why this start-up website is important or significant enough to have an article in an encyclopedia. See WP:Your first article and WP:FAQ/Organizations for advice, and if you are connected with the website read WP:Conflict of interest. JohnCD (talk) 18:20, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ya I did not find any sources for this company either, I added the reference header in the hopes that the person who created the article might have some. Hey John!

Thank you so much for informing me about the Wikipedia regulations for submitting a new article, as I was unaware of them. The only reason all the text was copy pasted was because, considering that I work for the company, we thought we could just copy the text. However we will be re-writing everything so that the text has a neutral opinion, is educational, and not promotional.

Thank you again!

wiki page Sajeel Shahid

hi, The comment[2]posted under Sajeel Shahid wikipage that is being attributed to him by the author of wiki page has not been made by him at all, but rather by someone else. Sajeel left al-muhajiroun in 2002, and this is public knowledge. If you go to the information sourced No2, you will not find the name Sajeel Shahid anywhere. This comment has been made by some one else, and not Sajeel Shahid. This interview is made in england, with some Al-Muhajiorun members and Sajeel Shahid was in Pakistan in 2004 and had no relationship with al-muhajiroun as he left them in 2002.

I am the wife of Sajeel Shahid, he runs two successfull buisness in UK, pays taxes and is a wonderful father and husband, please don´t let his name be maligned, using someone else´s comment and attributing to him is a grave injustice

Also daily mirrors other article (information source 3) has no comment from Sajeel Shahid, just accusations on him. These are not made by any government body but only a newspaper to sell the news by aligning someone that has no relation to the case. If there was any truth in it how can he here in UK sine 2005 till now and have no charge against him or even a caution note by any government body.

And lastly the information source 1 by (Nick Fielding) all relying upon one point that sajeel told an arabic newspaper, which newspaper? no name!! this is not sourced information !!. Sajeel does not know any arabic in 2004,5,6,7 to talk to any arabic newspaper, again a twisted story just because he used to have a madrasa (islamic school) in Pakistan where people came to study, There were 190 students in there, how does he know who studies there, but media never asked him no interview from him just story that has been made up.

I have clarified all 3 points with you, however to post someone else comment and to attribute it to sajeel is grave injustice

Many thanks sophie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knowledgesearch2 (talkcontribs) 22:06, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please read Wikipedia:Your first article for advice, and note that you need to establish WP:Notability by giving references to show "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Chapstick lesbian deleted?

Hi I just saw your delete of user:Deepmath/Chapstick lesbian, I've had that page in my watchlist back from around 2005 when I was more active, I'm not sure if you put tags on all the pages or only that one you mentioned in the delete summary but yeah that kinda sucks.

If you look at Special:Mypage/Whatever doing that is actually what people are meant to do per policy, in the Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Deepmath/Chemistry 101 you state that they are "stale" but that is not a reason for deletion so far as I know? Is user:Deepmath/Chapstick lesbian (backup) a copy of the same article?

I do think it's cool how you left it to run for quite a while apparently though, I'm surprised at how few spoke up which is a bit depressing. If you look at the lipstick lesbian article (which you might also notice is insanely small compared to how popular a term it is, something I think can be put to the gender gap (via WP:CSB, WP:FEM and Wikipedia:WikiProject Gender Studies)) you might see why, it's a pretty famous quote by Ellen Degenres[1] and was one of those things I watchlisted meaning to help out editing it to improve but just never got around to it, like probably a lot of people:

  • ehow.com/about_5021897_lipstick-lesbians.html
  • ehow.com/about_4586835_lesbianism-in-america.html
  • +[2] (from Curve Magazine)[3](Amazon) [4][5][6][7][8]
  • (As well as that, there's loads of stuff on social sites to back up the real-world usage (though i know these don't meet WP:V it just underscores the difference between literature available and actual real usage): [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16])

Is it possible you could restore it please if only so I can see if anything is worth saving from it? --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 17:57, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was user OSborn (talk) who nominated those pages for deletion; I was the admin who closed the discussion. OSborn did indeed put the {{mfd}} tag on all six of the pages. There is a good policy reason for deletion: WP:UP#COPIES: "Userspace is not a free web host and should not be used to indefinitely host... deleted content, or your preferred version of disputed content."
The history of this one is quite complicated. An article was started in 2004. In 2006 it was the subject of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chapstick lesbian which decided to merge it into Lipstick lesbian, so it became a redirect to that. In 2007 an IP changed the redirect to point to Soft butch.
On 21 July 2009 Deepmath replaced that redirect with a completely new article, and over the next few days developed it, to a growing chorus of complaints that what she was writing was OR and unreferenced. On 24 July, she made a cut-and-paste copy at User:Deepmath/Chapstick lesbian (backup copy), on 25 July the article was nominated for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chapstick lesbian (2nd nomination) where it collected a snowstorm of delete/redirect !votes, and the same day she moved the actual article to User:Deepmath/Chapstick lesbian.
Technically, the AfD was aborted, but looking at the debate there can be no doubt that had it proceeded the result would have been delete or redirect, and that the copies in Deepmath's userspace, after two years, were in breach of WP:UP#COPIES.
The two versions are essentially the same, and I have to say that if you are thinking of writing an article on the subject or of expanding its coverage in Lipstick lesbian, they would be no help to you being, as the AfD !voters said, unsourced or unreliably sourced OR, basically an essay on "How to recognize chapstick lesbians".

MSU Interview

Dear JohnCD,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Sorry, but Wikipedia is not for autobiographies - for that you want a social-networking site like Myspace or Facebook. See WP:Autobiography and the section "Vikipediya bir ensiklopediyadır" in az:Vikipediya:Beş əsas prinsip. Best wishes, JohnCD (talk) 14:23, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
