Tickets to attend Wikimania 2018 are now no longer aviable as the event is sold out. Registration will remain open for individuals who have received a prior invitation to attend the event.
Registration for Wikimania Cape Town is now live! Please register on our Eventbrite page.
Registration has been extended! Due to a high volume of last minute demands, we will be keeping online registration open until July 13. Registration after that date may be made on-site.
If you are a WMF-sponsored attendee (e.g., WMF Staff, Board, or Scholarship Recipient), please do not register until you are contacted by the WMF with instructions.
We strongly recommend that you create an Eventbrite account before or during registration, as that will allow you to review or amend your registration if need be.
Onsite Registration
Everyone attending Wikimania must have a conference badge. The registration desk will be open on the 3rd floor of the Cape Sun Southern Sun Hotel, as follows:
- Tuesday, July 17: 15:00 - 19:00
- Wednesday, July 18: 07:00 - 16:00
- Thursday, July 19: 08:00 - 19:00
- Friday, July 20: 08:00 - 16:00
- Saturday, July 21: 08:00 - 16:00
- Sunday, July 22: 08:00 - 12:00
After July 13, online registration will be closed, and new registrations can be made at the registration desk during the above hours.
How to register online
On our Eventbrite page, click the green "Register" button to get started. You may then select your tickets. No access to the venue will be granted without a ticket.
You will have the option to select to attend the Pre-Conference meetings on July 18 and 19, as well as the three-day conference on July 20-22. Day passes are also available, which provide access to only one day of the conference.
Once you have selected the days you would like to attend, you will be taken to the registration form to input your information and, if applicable, the Pre-Conference meeting you would like to attend.
Pricing
We are negotiating with sponsors to support those who can not attend otherwise, so keep checking back for those campaigns.
Prices are as follows. Please note that all prices are in US dollars. Payment must be made online with PayPal. You may select the currency you wish to pay with during the checkout process once logged into PayPal.
- Pre-Conference Day 1 on July 18 - *Early Bird Rate: $50 USD; Regular Rate: $75 USD
- Pre-Conference Day 2 on July 19 - *Early Bird Rate: $50 USD; Regular Rate, $75 USD
- Three Day Conference on July 20-22 - *Early Bird Rate: $175 USD; Regular Rate, $200 USD
- Day Pass, $75 USD per day
*Please note that Early Bird Pricing ends on June 4, 2018.
Please note that online registration ends July 13 at midnight PST. After that date, you may register onsite starting July 18.
What does Registration include?
The three-day conference registration includes:
- Badge
- Admission to all sessions that you are attending during July 20-22
- Lunch and refreshments during the breaks
- Admission to the opening reception and closing reception
- Wireless connectivity in conference session areas
- Conference T-shirt
Pre-Conference and Day Passes include:

Please note that only attendees who have registered for the three-day conference may attend the opening and closing receptions.

Registration for Local South Africans
The Wikimedia Foundation and WMZA are delighted to announce that there is a 50% discount provided on registration to the conference for eligible South African residents. To claim this discount, please fill out this google form. Applicants who are deemed eligible will be granted a code to use during registration.
The form will require that you provide your legal name, citizenship status, date of birth, and South African identity number.
