10% is what we pay.... and we already have 2 agencies signed up. OK. So, why are we having this discussion then? This was a call I had last Friday with a CPG brand in West London. They wanted a supply chain manager to shape their import / export operations and just weren't getting the right calibre of CV's. I really wanted to work with this brand and knew I could find great people for them, so I offered them 20% fees. (usually my fee is 17.5%) They declined. Why did I do this? Because they need to understand the value add from their recruitment partners, the reason they aren't getting any CV's is obvious... The agent does not feel valued, its not a partnership, its a dictatorship! Built a partnership with your recruiter and involve them in your hiring process, pay them fairly & you will get massive returns. ***Hiring like for like*** When the market turns, the need to hire more strong talent getting ready to make the next step / take on a new challenge is key. Recently, I have witnessed a couple of our blue chip FMCG clients toil for weeks on searches as they couldn’t tick every box with candidates that they wanted. The candidates were there but either wanted a bigger role, more money or a different challenge…….. and they were able to find it. As the market turns, clients need to be more agile – pace becomes a greater factor as well as testing strong learning agility in those candidates looking to make the step up.
