It takes Venus 243 Earth days to completely rotate on its axis, but just 225 days to orbit the sun. Stranger still, Venus is one of two planets that rotates in reverse, a phenomenon called retrograde motion. Most theories attribute the reverse rotation to an ancient planetary collision.
The latest photos from NASA’s Juno orbiter are getting up close and personal with Jupiter. Known as Perijove 12 – because it’s this mission’s 12th encounter with the giant planet – the images only add to the recent mysteries that have emerged regarding the Great Red Spot.

NASA has snapped a picture of Jupiter and its moons from a lunar observatory. The image shows what Jupiter looks like from an unusual space vantage point.
NASA says the storm is a 'bright, white, stretched-out storm moving at 560 kilometres per hour' at mid-northern latitudes.
