About this game

The king is dead. The country is wracked by rebellion. And an old comrade from your past has returned to claim the crown for himself.

I, the Forgotten One is a 450,000-word interactive novel by John Louis. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your
imagination.

You are the late king's eldest child and royal bastard. Disinherited and tossed aside, you were sent off as a child to fight in the distant frontier of the kingdom, to die forgotten
and unknown.

You, however, survived, and have been shaped into an instrument of war.

With the realm now in turmoil, you have been called upon to once more bloody your blade.

You must restore peace by any means necessary.

Even as you feel yourself slipping deeper and deeper into a pit of despair.

* Play as a man or woman
* Immerse yourself in a world whose perceptions change based on your chosen physicality
* Specialize in three separate aspects of medieval war
* Choose from three different fighting styles which are further influenced by your physical attributes
* Meet a wide cast of characters, from the mother that disowned you to your surrogate father
* Fall down three separate mental paths
* Sustain your relationship with your family, or let it collapse all together
* Experience the brutal realities of war and its consequences on the mind

Above all, find purpose and hope—before you shatter for good.

An incredible experience. The choices are intriguing, and painful, and feel legitimately impactful, the use of changing perspective to that of people other than the main character is exceptionally done, and always serves the plot well. Excited to play again, though disappointed I couldnt save my initial character. Some typos exist here and there, and sometimes the langusge feels a bit too modern for the setting, but, in my case, these are very minor, and dont break immersion. Excited for part 2!

A fantastic story of trauma, self loathing, and depression. The depiction is all too real, and this story certainly won't be for everyone. The story has epic action, but it also has to awareness to show the brutality of war, it's not just for shock. I have to knock a star off because the final battle is pretty ridiculous. The game let's you pick a specialization in weapons, tactics, or leadership at the start, but is biased towards tactics. Final battle is near impossible to win without tactics.

Fantastic. Perfect for GoT fans. It is very, very well written and exceptionally long. It took me 6 or so hours to finish and I'm a very fast reader. The characters are fantastic, the story is equally so, and it's probably one of the most emotional choice game I've played. It's more linear than some and the game aspect is minimal. It's more similar to Samurai of Hyuga in that regard. It's more of a story than a game, and it's very, very good.
