  • User links: (talk contribs CentralAuth global count blocks)
  • Babel/Languages you can reply in: English.
  • Your most active user talk page(s): Commons media files of all types.
  • Queues you would like access to: Commons permissions.
  • Email sent? Yes.

Applying based on my background of being the highest volume contributor on Wikimedia Commons, with over four million images uploaded to the project. I have a lot to offer in support of tickets to OTRS in relation to copyright and validation or deletion of more difficult inquiries relating to media uploads to that project. My previous experience as an OTRS volunteer was significant, with no issues raised.

In 2017, I was recommended to raise my application with the WMF Support & Safety department, and if they supported my OTRS membership, the OTRS administrators would be "happy to invite you". SuSa confirmed by email that they have no objection to my having OTRS access. (talk) 08:14, 1 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Support Support highly active and competent. 4nn1l2 (talk) 09:23, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Oppose OTRS access is provided to editors who are (amongst other qualities quoted from above) 'highly-trusted' and 'Courteous, skilled at resolving disputes, friendly – even in the face of hostility – sensitive to the needs of outsiders, and have exemplary discretion'. Fæ has a long and well-documented history that shows they have none of these qualities, and in fact quite often act in direct counter to them. Links can be provided of their past activities on ENWP if necessary, actually including a comprehensive list here would necessitate a reply 10x as long, however see this thread from August 2019 for the most recent example. There are also current issues related to a user account on commons systematically uploading British Museum-created images licensed for free for non-commercial use as public domain - in which Fæ actively supports these activities. Giving access to the permissions OTRS for commons to an editor who is actively supporting a user running unapproved copyright-abusing upload-bot would be a bad idea. Should the British Museum choose to complain further, it is likely OTRS would be the first responder, and Fæ lacks both the temperament and trustworthiness to respond. Imagine if you were burgled and called the police to report it, and your call was answered by the burglar's mother. Again, further evidence can be provided if necessary but would need to be private as it would likely involve off-wiki links. However whoever reviews these requests should do some due diligence on Fæ as there is no possible situation where they should be put in a position where they have access to any non-public personal data, let alone be in a position to actually respond to people contacting the community regarding permissions on media. Only in death (talk) 12:02, 14 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Oppose Temperament wholly unsuited for such a role. Fae is certainly not a trusted user, the Commons community has repeatedly made that clear. The way the always, always brag about their Commons edit count as though that's what really matters tells you most of what you need to know. They are extremely quick to hurl accusations of bad faith at others if they happen to disagree with them, I can only imagine how they might behave when nobody on-wiki can see what they are doing. Plus everything in the above post by only in death. Beeblebrox (talk) 00:59, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support Support A very positive contributor, with a strong understanding of both copyright and Commons polciies. The personal attacks above are shameful and unacceptable. Criticism for supporting the British Museum uploads (which I also support) is baseless, and misrepresents both Commons and WMF policy (as cases like en:National Portrait Gallery and Wikimedia Foundation copyright dispute confirm). It's telling that Only in death has nominated none of the files concerned for deletion (nor indeed, with the exception of a tiny number of inadvertent non-free 3D images, which I nominated, has anyone else). If they did so, the files would undoubtedly be kept. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:28, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Oppose far too controversial and temperamentally unsuited for this role. Lepricavark (talk) 13:44, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to help out on OTRS because: I have experience of using OTRS elsewhere in a voluntary capacity, and have experience both through work and volunteering of dealing with complex complaints, including safeguarding and conduct issues. I'd like to able to have another route to assist in resolving issues. I'm almost entirely active on en-wiki presently, though would like to do more to support smaller projects e.g. Simple and Voyage too. Happy to answer any questions you have! Best, Darren-M (talk) 18:45, 28 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Support Support I gave Darren-M their reviewer flag on English Wikipedia because they're trusted, competent and have that nice yet undefinable quality - 'clue'. I believe the same to be true about OTRS access. They can be trusted with private data, they're competent and will act appropriately on the content of incoming e-mails, and with their 'clue' will give good quality responses to those e-mailing in to us. • Support Support from me too - Nick pretty much hit everything I have to say; Darren-M seems to know what they're doing and is trustworthy and polite. I think they can be trusted with OTRS access. GeneralNotability (talk) 12:58, 4 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I would like to help out on the OTRS because I have been utilising various wiki-projects, knowing what are some of the barriers a user may face, let it be about editing, uploading match files, media-related et cetera. I hope to save/preserve free media if it can be saved. I am a c:license reviewer on commons, and I try my best to correct any mistakes made by good faith contributors so the files are not deleted.

Back when this media was nominated for deletion, I reached out to the author, to relicense the file from PD-Mark to CC0. In 2018; I requested a Finnish acquaintance of mine to upload a bunch of files -- they shared the media with me, (currently under c:Category:Helsinki Pride 2018), and requested User:Steinsplitter to handle the OTRS request.

I am an administrator and reviewer on enwn. And on Commons, I am a file mover, image reviewer and rollbacker.

I am uncertain if info (for Hindi and Gujarati) requires my help; or if I would be of any use.
