Escherichia coli,[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] rarissimo Escherichium coli,[9][2][4][5][6] saepissime abbreviata E. coli, est bacterium gram negativum familiae Enterobacteriacearum, usitate inventum in intestino inferiore animalium, quibus est sanguis calidus. Sunt plurimae E. coli varietates innocuae, sed nonnullae aliae, sicut serovare O157:H7, cibos hominum venenosos efficere possunt, quapropter producta cibaria revocari debent. Varietates innocuae sunt pars hospitum naturalium intestini, et in illo ad recipiendum vitaminum K2 et ad prohibendum bacteria pathogenica adiuvare possunt.

Escherichia coli, cum non est inclusa in intestino, facultatem supervivendi tempus breve extra corpus habet. Ita est indicium optimum contaminationis faecalis in exemplis circumiectorum. Bacterium faciliter in culturis coli potest, et geneticae eius sunt simplices, per quod hoc bacterium unum notissimorum organismorum prokaryoticorum est.

E. coli a Theodoro Escherich bacteriologo Germano anno 1885 inventa est,[10] et nunc inter Enterobacteriaceas gamma-proteobacteriorum circumscribitur.[11]

Varietates

Varietas E. coli est categoria inferior intra speciem, cui sunt illa adiuncta monodica, quae eam de varietatibus aliis Escherichiae. Hae differentiae sunt saepe moleculares, quamvis possunt mutare adiuncta physologiae bacterii. Exemplo varietas potiritur capacitatem pathogenicam aut potestatem uti carbonio. Per varietates varias E. coli saepe origo contaminationis faecalis in exemplis circumiecorum detegi potest.

Novae varietates E. coli per immutationem biologicam naturalem mutationis oriuntur, et nonnullae varietates potiriuntur adiuncta, quae animali hospitali nocere possunt. Varietates virulentae naturaliter efficiunt diarrhoeam in hominibus adultis valentibus aliae, e.g. O157:H7, morbum vel mortem in senibus vel hominibus immunitatis invalidae efficere possunt.

Varietas perpericulosa bacterii Escherichiae est Enterohaemorrhagicum Escherichium coli.
