As part of the UN Secretary-General's High-level Advisory Body on AI, Sony Group CTO Hiroaki Kitano has been working alongside experts from around the world on a set of guidelines to govern AI in a way that doesn't leave anyone behind. The final report is now available: https://lnkd.in/eQRDQpiN. The report provides a comprehensive framework and seven key recommendations for global cooperation on AI that will help to safeguard human rights and ensure the benefits of AI are equitably distributed. Place: Palais des Congrès, Montréal, Québec, Canada QCE24: https://lnkd.in/epFWQj_D Abstract: Causal discovery methods have been developed to estimate causal relationships in observed data, which cannot be fully captured by correlation. The Peter-Clark (PC) algorithm is widely used across various fields because it can be applied to data without any assumption on probability distributions or a relation between variables e.g., linearity. However, one significant drawback of the PC method is that it requires a large number of samples. In our work, we developed the quantum PC (qPC) algorithm by incorporating quantum kernel methods, inspired by quantum computation, into the PC algorithm. Numerical experiments using artificial datasets have shown that the qPC algorithm achieved higher accuracy even with a small number of samples than the conventional approaches (i.e., PC algorithm). The results suggest that the qPC algorithm is effective for causal discovery when it is difficult to obtain a large sample or when collecting data in a short period of time. In this presentation, we combine the high expressive power of the quantum kernels with the causal discovery method.
