The Societal Preservation Program was a pre-war initiative of Vault-Tec Corporation.
Background[]
Directed by Dr. Stanislaus Braun, the program focused on preserving a small slice of the United States population, including a series of social experiments, orchestrated and carried out inside of Vault-Tec Vaults.[1][2] Braun maintained contact with Vaults across the country, managing their activation and assignment.[3][4]
The program oversaw Vaults that conducted experiments but also 17 served as control groups.[5] Overseers expressed discontentment with the idea of experimenting on Vault residents, but faced consequences for non-compliance.[6] Vault doors in the Commonwealth and Appalachia are marked with "Societal Preservation Program" on the exterior.
Appearances[]
The Societal Preservation Program is mentioned in Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76.
