Alexander Rybak winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 is set to perform at tomorrow evening’s Luxembourg Song Contest final.
RTL has announced that Alexander Rybak is among the guest performers during the final of the Luxembourg Song Contest 2024. Alexander Rybak won the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 for Norway with “Fairytale”, the song and performance has gone on to be remembered as one of the contests biggest hits.
Luxembourg announced its return to Eurovision in May, after last entering the contest 31 years ago in 1993. Luxembourg will find its song for Eurovision 2024 through the “Luxembourg Song Contest”. The Luxembourg Song Contest will take place on January 27th at the Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette and it will feature the following acts:
- Angy & Rafa Ela – “Drop”
- CHAiLD – “Hold on”
- EDSUN – “Finally alive”
- Joel Marques – “Believer”
- Krick – “Drowning in the rain”
- Naomi Ayé – “Paumée sur terre” (Lost on Earth)
- One Last Time – “Devil in the detail”
- TALI – “Fighter”
The winner of the Luxembourg Song Contest will be determined by 50% televoting and 50% jury voting. The jury panel comprises representatives from eight countries, with each nation consisting of five members. Their collective vote will hold significant weight, contributing to half of the overall ranking. The other half will be determined by the audience.
Voting is set to take place through a dedicated link on the official RTL website during the live show. This link will direct voters to a specialized voting platform. The Luxembourg Song Contest will feature two voting slots, each lasting a minimum of 15 minutes, with precise details to be announced by the hosts during the broadcast.
Voting is open to both local and international audiences. Each vote is priced at €0.99, and participants need a valid credit card for participation. There is a cap of 20 votes per registered credit card per round, providing flexibility for the audience to distribute their votes among different songs or concentrate them on a single entry.

Luxembourg was one of seven countries to take part in the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Luxembourg participated in the contest a total of 37 times before withdrawing from the contest after 1993. During these 37 years, they won the contest five times, the last of these victories came in 1983. Luxembourg came close to returning to the contest in 2004, however, opted against it due to the financial cost of participating.
