redundant self-promotion

[edit]

This page reads too much like a campaign ad and is very redundant. In fact, I think it was written by The Department of Redundancy Department. It needs to be cleaned up or deleted.

I agree, this looks and sounds EXACTLY like Mike Duhaime speaks on TV. I wonder if his staffers wrote it. It shouldn't be deleted because this walking ego is sadly gonna be around Republican politics for a long time. Even so, some more level-headed editors should prune this where they are able. if it were up to me, I'd cut out about half.LiPollis (talk) 20:32, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

and his fourth cousin once removed was Bozo the clown...

[edit]

Good DOG, this article is a mess, check out this bunch of irrelevant and unsourced BS:

"His mother, Anne DuHaime, served as the Mayor of Bloomingdale. He is the brother of Debbie DuHaime, a New York traffic reporter on WABC's morning show and the John Gambling Show."

I mean, if it's true, why not work it into the body of the article and if you can't do that, at least offer some references. I could have my staffers write an article about me and say my mom was the Shah of Iran and my sister is Jay Leno's hairdresser. Lordy!LiPollis (talk) 20:40, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good work with the sourcing, now let's work on the tone

[edit]

To the editors who have worked so hard to source many of the asserted facts that lacked sourcing until recently - BRAVO! There's still some more work to be done thought because every fact inserted here as a notable accomplishment needs to be verifiable. Just because I dislike the guy doesn't mean I don't believe he did all the things his pals say he did, the issue is verifiability. I'd also like to see the overall tone of this article turned down a notch or two from it's current "Mike Duhaime is Superman" tone to "Mike Duhaime is a notable guy and here's why" tone.

For example: as it turns out, his family DOES have a long history of Republican activism in NJ and I'm glad to see that referenced and fleshed out. However, the continued irrelevant red-typed reference to his sister the traffic reporter seems to be gilding the lily. What does her flying around in a helicopter all day have to do with his activity in the Republican Party? None. If she ever becomes notable enough for somebody to write an article about her and her own accomplishments, then that factoid is worth inclusion. It's sort of the same with his college career. There is an unreferenced assertion that he was captain of his hockey team I suppose to imply early leadership cred. Wouldn't it be more important though to list or document his activity with campus Republicans? Surely with a family such as his, he would likely have been very involved in the Young Republicans or some campus politcal group, right? My point is, the guy is notable for his political activities and not his college hockey career, among other things. Therefore, we should be looking to flesh out his accomplishments in politics. If he continues in Academia, we should note that too. More likely it is just a parking place until the next round of elections when he will likely attach himself to some interesting campaigns and we'll be back here adding that info to the article.LiPollis (talk) 12:36, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth is not consistent

[edit]

Two birth years are indicated, 1973 and 1974. Year needs to be updated.
