The Five Cereals of Ancient China
The Five Sacred Crops (sometimes known as the Five Sacred Grains) of ancient China are listed in Fah Shên-chih's text on farming circa 2800 BCE entitled Fah Shên-chih Shu. The five crops are soybeans, rice, wheat, barley and millet. All but soybeans are cereal grains. The ancient Chinese had given them their own god, 后稷 Hòujì.
