History

Formation and name

At the end of 2015, Martin and Dimitar met at the Language High School in Plovdiv, while playing acoustic guitars with friends in a classroom. Since they were the most passionate, they immediately decided that it could work out very well if they played together.[6]

They started rehearsing original projects in a music rehearsal studio in the undergrounds of the Plovdiv "Hristo G. Danov Community Centre"[7]. With the help of the studio's owner Tony Arnaudov (Tony "Satan" Arnaudov) they started working even more passionately on original songs and favourite rock tunes.

In Spring 2016 the two friends, now a duo, performed two original guitar instrumentals at the "Day of the High School" in front of their school friends and classmates. After this performance things started going at a good direction. Practice after practice, they met up at the studio to play almost every day.

After another rehearsal in June, while eating ice cream at the city centre, Martin and Dimitar accidentally bumped into Velko Tsvetkov who played rhythm guitar at the time, but wanted to learn the bass guitar and thus became part of the band. Velko had been Martin's best friend since Primary School, so things weren't so hard to start working out.

The band, now three guys, always found it difficult to get a suitable drum player. They went out sticking paper ads with invitations all over the city center. After auditioning some drummers, a boy from the Plovdiv Music School - Ivan Petkov - saw one of the paper ads at his school, joined the band towards the end of Summer 2016 and became the permanent drummer.

RedTrigger's first instrumental performance in 2016.

The last step was to find someone that would front the band and sing. After a successful performance as an instrumental quartet at the end of 2016, the guys decided to ask a friend to join them, whom they heard singing louder than the sound system at the concert. They knew him from before, but just by then he was in another band as a rhythm guitarist. That guy was Michael Angelov. Michael wasn't confident in himself, but with the help of the other guys and some practice, things started working. That's just when the band realized that Michael had a great talent.

The band's first professional logo art created by talented artist Gergana Karisheva.

During that time, after Michael joined the band, the name RedTrigger was created. It symbolizes the red color of blood, in which rock music flows and the "trigger" as a launching force of rock and roll. It simply means "Trigger of Rock 'n' Roll".

First gigs and recordings

After some time in 2017, Ivan left the band and was replaced by Dobrin Semerdzhiev (Dodo) to be the drummer. Their first serious performances were at the Plovdiv "S'cool Rock Fest"[8], organized by Tony Arnaudov[9], a gig at the "Stage 51" Club and a gig at the Language High School's "Day of the Talents". Since then, they started receiving invitations to play in clubs, outdoor festivals, competitions, etc.[10]

At that time the band recorded their first original songs. One studio recording was created at the "Campa Records" Studio in the town of Rakovski and a four-track EP was recorded for the Bulgarian National Radio in Plovdiv with the help of the director of the radio.[11]

At that time they met bass guitarist Darian Simeonov and drummer Alexander Ivanov, as a substitute for Dobrin. In this line-up, the band performed at more clubs and festivals through the country, and began working on their first studio album idea.[12][13]

In 2019 the band joined the "Bulgaria's Got Talent" TV show as a way of promoting the band in television and even reached the final levels of the show.[14][15]

The band played many festival and club gigs with fellow rock bands from Bulgaria.[16][17]

The next step

Between 2020 and 2022 RedTrigger underwent serious line-up changes and creative hiatus, delaying the recording of their debut album. Dimitar, Darian and Alexander had left the band, and the formation remained a quartet - Martin (lead guitar), Svetoslav (bass guitar), Michael (vocals) and as destiny would have it, amazingly Ivan Petkov, the first drummer, returned to sit behind the drum kit once again.[18]

RedTrigger began recording their debut full-length LP album in early 2024 at "F1 Records" and "MainaSound" studios in Plovdiv. During that time they played their first mini-tour, which was called "Fund The Album Tour" in order to help finance the recording of the album. Now the guys have finished recording the songs for the LP and are waiting for the mixing process to finish.
