Mariana Gomes Ferreira Lima-Díaz (born August 25, 1972) is a Brazilian actress and producer. A versatile and proficient artist, throughout her three-decade career she has won several awards, including a Cenym Award and a Shell Award, as well as receiving nominations for a Grande Otelo, a Guarani Award and three Quality Brazil Awards.
Lima began her career in theater traveling to several Latin American countries until studying at the renowned Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in New York. She became known for her work in theater, joining renowned companies in São Paulo, which earned her critical acclaim, until she was invited to act in the soap opera as "Liliana" in O Rei do Gado (1996), on TV Globo, a job that brought her to national stardom. Since then, she has been seen in several other productions.
In theater, she gained recognition for her performances in Book of Job (1995), Tio Vânia (1998), A Paixão Segundo G.H. (2002), A Máquina De Abraçar (2009), Pterodáctilos (2011) – for which she was chosen Best Actress at the Shell Awards –, Nômades (2014) and CérebroCoração (2018). In cinema, she is best known for her roles in Kenoma (1998), Olga (2004), Árido Movie (2006), for which she was nominated for the Grande Otelo for Best Supporting Actress, A Suprema Felicidade (2010), for which she was nominated for the Guarani Award for Best Supporting Actress, Father's Chair (2013) and Ela e Eu (2022).
On television, she was still in evidence in soap operas, such as the sweet Branca in Serras Azuis (1998), the stylist Antônia in Escolhas de Mulher (2002), the queen Helena in Cordel Encantado (2011), the promoter Roberta in O Rebu (2014 ), psychologist Isabel in Sete Vidas (2015) and producer Ilana in Um Lugar ao Sol (2021). Furthermore, she was also acclaimed for her performances in various series, such as Filhos do Carnaval (2006), Doce de Mãe (2014), Lúcia McCartney (2016), Os Dias Eram Assim (2017), Assédio (2018) and Onde Está Meu Coração (2021).
Career
Personal life
In 1997, at the age of twenty-five, she began a relationship with actor and director Enrique Díaz, with whom she would only make the union official in 2019.[1] In October 2004, the couple's first daughter, Antônia, was born.[2] In 2008, they had their second daughter, Elena.[1] She is the sister-in-law of fellow actor Chico Díaz, Enrique's brother.[3] In 2021, she declared in an interview with the newspaper O Globo that she was bisexual and revealed that she had already had a relationship with a woman.[4] Currently, she and Enrique Díaz live in an open relationship and, after twenty-five years of marriage, they decided to live in separate houses, maintaining their union.[4] In 2024, she and Enrique decided to put an end to their relationship.
