R.L. Boyce
I know there is a discrepancy as to how this recently deceased bluesman's name was styled. Both AllMusic here and dear old Stefan here have him as shown above. Two reliable sources if nothing else. Regards, - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 15:37, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Gene Cipriano

On 5 January 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gene Cipriano, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Gene Cipriano played the saxophone part for Tony Curtis's character in the film Some Like It Hot? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gene Cipriano. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Gene Cipriano), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

John Sessions

Hi, I hope you are well. I checked John and Margaret Sessions birth records at ancestry.com. Their mother’s maiden name was Richardson and according to England & Wales, Civil Registration Birth Index, 1916-2007 they were born in Bedford. Sessions must have fancied being born in Largs but it is not true. John Gibb Marshall as mentioned by another contributor is a different person born the same year. I’d have put this information on the Sessions talk page but I was frozen out as I was about to post. Keep up the good work. Check Ancestry which I believe you have access. Glyn Johns article

Well, I'm still around, and its always good to give you a good Hello--I've been missing you and everyone--I hope you're doing well! As it turns out I've had an expansion of the Glyn Johns article sitting around in my sandbox since who knows when, but I've finally had some time to do some actual heavy-lifting on it. So, I just added a big chunk of text into the article. Now the challenge is to see what we can do to fine-tune and refine it. I'm sure that you'd like to take a look at it. I also put a too-bulky message on the talk page there. Best wishes! Garagepunk66 (talk) 05:33, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I'll be editing with a new name now, GloryRoad66. Good luck! GloryRoad66 (talk) 07:41, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I realize that you've been away, but if you get a chance, I was wondering if you could comb through the Glyn Johns article and check to make sure that the use of British English there looks right. Also, I tried to use secondary sources as much as possible, but there were instances where I had to fall back on Johns' autobiography (only for basic facts about necessary matters i.e. his early background, etc.). In those cases other sources weren't available--or in other cases I corroborated citations to his book with other refs. I'd like to see if we can get the article to GA, but I want to make sure that the autobiography citations wouldn't be a stumbling block. What do you think? Yeah, Guy may be a while in responding. In the meantime, please take a second look at, and read again, Johns 'Family' section. I am not sure who is who ! - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 22:44, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Derek, thanks so much for your kind help. Sorry that the Family section looked a bit confusing. I went in and tidied it up. Hopefully, it looks better now. Both of you, let me know if there are any more problems with the article. How the British English? Is the use of the primary source, Johns' autobiography, OK (I tried to keep its use to a bare minimum—I used it mainly for the early background, early career, etc.)? Thanks. GloryRoad66 (talk) 01:50, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
By and large the article looks sound to me. If it is GA status that you crave, then I suggest you ask one of the more regular contributors listed at WP:WBGAN, who will have far more experience regarding criteria to be met than I. Best wishes, - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 12:55, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Best wishes to you too! ..and to your spotted kitty! GloryRoad66 (talk) 17:54, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Faye Adams family background

I noticed that a long time ago you added details about Faye Adams' father being a gospel singer and COGIC member. Do you perchance remember where you got this information? The current citation, added a few years later, is from allmusic.com, but since it uses very similar phrasing and postdates your edit it could be potentially derived from it! Many thanks. Udzu (talk) 10:58, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sadly, back in 2007 I was not as punctilious as I should have been about citing my sources, and I can't remember back to that edit 16 years ago (!). Are you sure that the Allmusic article postdates my edit? If one was available on that site at that time I'm sure I would have used it. It's also likely that I would have used Marv Goldberg's article - https://www.uncamarvy.com/FayeAdams/fayeadams.html - which although dated 2018 I'm sure must have long pre-dated that. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:12, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Unfortunately the AMG review is undated, and the Internet Archive doesn't seem to have archived it (probably due to its historically weird URLs). I've checked AMG's 2001 published guide and it's not there, but that's not too surprising given it's only 1500 pages. The reviewer, Jason Ankeny, stopped working at AMG in 2000, but has freelanced for them since then.
Still, thanks for reassuring me that this isn't an example of citogenesis! Udzu (talk) 14:27, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well done - oh, how I laughed (I still am to be truthful). "It Was Hard When I Kissed Her Goodbye", and "You Ought to See Her Box" - how did such titles get released in the early 1950s ?! Still chortling, I had a quick Google search for Betty Thornton (as mentioned in the article). I might not have bothered except I had an Auntie Betty (and an Auntie Peggy, for that matter), so it made me guffaw even more. [1] if you're interested. Surely that album cover for Tit for Tat could not have been published in 1946. I love the fact that the text on the cover states "For Grown Ups Only" - when it should have stated "Which Fool Gets Her Nipples That Close to a Lyre". I may still be giggling this time next week. And there's more.... 😮 Ghmyrtle (talk) 15:13, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Tears down my face now. I could not read all of the song titles, but I doubt there is one to beat - "She Kissed Him in the Hallway and He Shot Across the Street". I don't think all those splendid dirty blues could top that for a title. You've got to laugh. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 15:52, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
