Music Idol is the Bulgarian version of the British television hit show Pop Idol or of the US show American Idol. It is a talent contest to determine the superior pop performer and its first season is currently being aired on bTV. Auditioners had to be between the ages of 16 and 28. There was one exception of the rule - Kremena from Dobrich was allowed to participate, albeit her age of 15.

Auditions
Throughout the whole country contestants auditioned in front of the panel of the judges. The cities were auditions held were:
Theatre Round
In 3 days the judges choosed among the top 100 from all cities the semifinalists who will perform live during the show and face the public's vote.
Semifinals
For one week (March 12 to March 19) the top 40 performed each night in five groups including eight singers with the two top vote getters advancing to the finals. On Friday night the judges announced eight singers who received another chance to perform with the top vote getter and the final pick of the judges joining the other finalists to the top 12.
