Pyle served as Mayor of [[Ford City, Pennsylvania]] until 2005. In 2004, he was elected to the House of Represenatives. He was re-elected in 2006.
In his first term, Pyle archived notable success as a legislator. He introduced legislation to stiffen criminal penalties on drug related crime, which was adopted by the full House by a vote of 109-0.<ref>[http://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI/BI/BH/2005/0/HB1704.HTM </ref> He also came within a few votes of changing the Pennsylvania tax code.
