Summary
[edit]Description1934 Pioneer Zephyr brochure.JPG | Brochure issued by the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad to announce the Pioneer Zephyr's entry into regular passenger service. Prior to this, the train had been on various public exhibition tours throughout the United States after making its historic Denver to Chicago run in May 1934. The brochure front was also produced by the railroad as a poster which it would distribute in towns and cities the Zephyr would visit on its "goodwill" tours, with the city and dating information pertinent for each stop. These posters are most commonly seen today as reproductions. The brochure describes the construction of the train and technical information about it, as well as some photos of the train while under construction at Budd. |
Date | The train went into revenue service beginning 11 November 1934. The brochure mentions the various US tours the train was on prior to its entry into regular service. |

Author | Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad/printed by Gusdorf-Warren Printing Company, Chicago. |
- There are no copyright markings on the front or back of the brochure, but because I am not able to examine the complete mid-section of it, a copyright search for any possible renewals was done.
- Copyright renewals for books, pamphlets and periodicals for the years 1961 and 1962 were done, with the focus being on anything from the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad.
- The above mentioned searches turned up no renewals of any type for the railroad. While I believe the brochure was never copyrighted, I have chosen to license it as PD-not renewed to be certain.
