If Only...I'd never seen this!
8 April 2008
As Jennifer Love Hewitt would say, "OMG!" Wow, this movie was so unbelievable and stupid. Unromantic, boring, terribly acted... The list goes on and on... And furthermore, she has to tack on her songwriting and singing, I swear she is trying to take on David Hasselhoff for the Cheese prize. Actually, Hasselhoff can be forgiven of some of his faults since he did do "Knight Rider". OK, maybe not fair to put them in the same category. Although I can't fault the blame totally on Love. None of the actors were convincing at all, except maybe Tom Wilkenson, although I do think slightly less of him for taking part in this horrible film. Regardless, Miz JLH can rest assured that she may add another notch to her Razzie belt.

Should be titled "Copycat"
30 August 2007
Oh dear. I was so disappointed that this movie was just a rip-off of Japan's Ringu. Well, I guess the U.S. made their version of it as well, but at least it was an outright remake. So, so sad. I very much enjoy watching Filipino movies and know some great things can come out of such a little country, so I can't believe this had to happen. Claudine and Kris are such big names there, surprised they would be affiliated with plagiarism. To any aspiring movie makers out there in the Philippines: You do not have to stoop this low to make money. There are many movie buffs that are watching the movies Filipinos put out and enjoying them!

Annoying movie!
16 August 2007
I am continually surprised by how much movies are praised because of the popularity of the actors involved in them. This is just one example of just that. Judy and Ryan don't seem to have much chemistry here, surprisingly, for a real-life couple. Also, the story does not make sense! Two bratty people who get married, start a family, etc. I was annoyed throughout the whole thing, and can't stand Ryan's acting! Totally unacceptable for a movie deemed a serious drama. Everything about this movie-the actors, their characters, the story, massively stinks! Please, Philippines, there are some great movies coming out of your country, don't give your awards away to mindless yuck with big names.

Awful!
16 August 2007
Oh, what a waste of talent! Vhong Navarro and Toni Gonzaga are so funny, but not in this movie. What a terrible story, and maybe since I don't know Tagalog, the jokes didn't translate well. It seemed to have many big name actors in it, wondering if they knew what they were getting into by being associated with this movie. The only parts that were semi-enjoyable were the slapstick-y bits with just Vhong and Toni. The other stuff was just too wacky and outlandish, getting worse all the way to the end. I was surprised to learn this was a big blockbuster hit in the Philippines, maybe I just don't understand the humor. I wouldn't waste time or money on this one!

Wished it was better...

Warning: Spoilers
The acting by Aga Muhlach and Claudine Barretto was first rate, but the overall story was rushed. The role of Chrissy is too obvious for a drama like this, and the ending shot of her smiling as Aga and Claudine kiss passionately at her wedding to someone else- just not believable. I love these actors, and wish I liked the movie better, but I have to say I was disappointed. However, Claudine was lovely, I loved having her look more Asian than she usually is made up, and Aga was great in his role as well. As an Asian American that has never been to the Philippines, it was wonderful to see the landscape of Bicol and get a feel for the country. This movie is good enough for a rainy day, not for a romantic date.

Adorable movie!
16 August 2007
This was one of the first Filipino movies I saw, and thought Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby were adorable, but not overly sugary. It was also nice to see a movie without gratuitous love scenes. The scenes that were borderline showed no nudity. Very refreshing to not have to sell movies this way. Our 12 year old daughter loved this movie as well, as she would like to visit the Philippines sometime, but knows no Tagalog. We are all trying to learn the language, and movies like this are getting us on the way of learning the culture as well as the language. Well directed, acted and written-wonderful date movie as well as "girl's night" movie!
