Only made it to the end of episode one. Small budget, colorful, quick paced... but still a werido-girl horror small town high student. Bullies, monsters, spells and the rest of the stuff.

Teen's horror at its prime

Good expansion of the original short film's awesome monster and definitely the best of the Crypt Tv mini series, but possibly a bit too overly complicated in its execution

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this a lot for the most part, the acting was good the story's were involving and the special effects were very well done, especially on the Birch her twisted self, of the double story arcs I liked the one with the Wiccan-esc misfit girl with the purple hair who witnesses a murder the most, I thought it went on for one episode too many though and it should have ended with that poor girl being dragged down under the ground into the Birch's cold embrace, the story felt wrapped up fine right there. I liked the other story with the strange girl being held virtually captive by her seemingly cruel foster parents...until it becomes apparent that her story is an elaborate origin story for where the Birch came from, uh I really thought that was rather unnecessary, I like the idea of the Birch being a lethal dark spirit of vengeance and nature personified who mercilessly slays the chosen victims and does not treat those kindly who abuse her unearthly powers of the wood, a lethal benevolent and savage guardian, not a former human girl with silly mystery powers who confusingly transformed for some reason when she finally used them to their fullest and whose own reason for having said special abilities was never made clear, I did like how it gave the Birch an added element of tragedy, for on some level she is still a mother and a protector who lost her own child in life and exists in death to mercilessly protect the innocent should they call upon her in times of desperation, but on the other hand that was a daft thing to do, as any monster is more powerful and intriguing when it has a little mystery to it! So in closing, I think they did a decent job with this series and it was a gripping and satisfying one to binge on one go! Hope they do more as good as this in the future, later! 🌳 💔 💀

Intoxicatingly Good

I really wanted to hate it since it seems like it would be full of clichés but it actually left me on the edge of my seat. The way the story is told from multiple perspectives really adds to it. Not to mention there is great character development and I genuinely felt bad for the characters. As far as horror goes theres not any jumpscares but the birch is terrifying in its own way. Something about an evil tree just hits me differently. The backstory was what really had me impressed since it was more psychological horror which I did not expect. All in all this is a good series and I hope its picked up by a network where the actors' fantastic work can be showcased to a larger audience.
Friday the 13th today. Why not?

AN AMAZING SHOW!

This is possibly one of THE BEST shows from Crypt TV. All actors involved are absolutely BRILLIANT but especially the main 3: Xaria Dotson, Dempsey Bryk and Midori Francis. It's amazing to see three different perspectives and get three very different characters that you can root for. The only cons I can really think of is some dodgy CGI and a few poor kills but other than that it's very good. Seriously check this out, it was worth the wait.
Amazing Creature Horror

During my need in searching a horror series, Iv'e came across Crypt T.V which is backed up by Blumhouse Productions, Jason Blum. This already gives you excitement. That's when I came across the "The Birch" a 2016 short story.
This is a remake, connected to the 2016 "The Birch". About a creature who acts like a mother figure, protecting those in need of help, while giving them a form of love, as a mother would do so to there sons and daughters. It has a "Blair Witch" vibe, but a more in depth story, while having a "Stephan King" vibe too.
The Birch is a unique story, as a teen "Evie" grieving, comes upon a ritual like "Blair Witch" symbol. She began to do research, while threatened by others and not a very popular teen in school, more like a closed in girl being bullied. I must say, she gives me an "Eleven, Stranger Things" character vibe, which says a lot about the character and acting strength of "Xaria Dotson". The same with others, but the directing of the show is also well done, being balanced, originality, interesting, strong moments and during this, they slowly give you the back story, origin of the creature "The Birch". Creative, well designed, a mother nature twist of horror.
Story- 10/10 (Originality to it's bone, well balanced, more importantly "UNIQUE" and interesting)
Origin Story- 10/10 (A strong Back bone, it's original, easily understandable, very interesting)
Characters- 10/10 (The actors and actresses I find does a very good job, depth is amazing, personality's are shown, it's strong)
Tone/Music/Atmosphere- 10/10 (Very well on point of setting the moods, easily sucked in into it's surroundings)
I can see this becoming a bigger series, movies and graphic novels because it's a creature. The story can be made with multiple paths, plus blumhouse is part of Crypt T.V, in hoping this gains more popularity!.

Beautiful, Horror version of a Mother Nature like!

I ended up coming across Crypt T.V with my sister on youtube, because we were searching horror films due to lack and boring ones on "Netflix" Upon discovering this amazing channel "Crypt T.V" The Birch happened to be my favorite out of them all.
The Birch, an amazing title choice, with a very strong origin, well brought together throughout the episodes. It's a teen horror and among the current age, not much of horror films are good, but The Birch, does it terrific. You come across a teen who is grieving at the lost of her mother, while coming across something she shouldn't have seen, then threatened if she told the police. During someone grieving about a loss, you should not threat them because it's just cruel, but in the end, she found something.
She found a new mother, "The Birch" which in my opinion damn well designed, tree like monster, as the name fits with it's creative look, birched look figure. That lends help those in need of love and protection, truly a mother figure, but in a resembling form of nature, so a Mother Nature horror twist. LOVE IT.
You learn the origin of "The Birch" throughout the episodes that has a strong meaning, well thought through, a BIG BACK BONE (if you know what I mean) all honesty, the main character "Evie Grayson" acted by Xaria Dotson, gives me "Eleven, Stranger Things" Vibe. Grieving, to becoming a badass!.
I was surprised how well the characters were connected, acting very good, yes that's a strong saying, but it's what I think. Crypt T.V did a beautiful job of making "The Birch". Keeping you interested, luring you deeper into the lore, while you can't help but feel for the creatures motives. You tend to fall in love with the series, not just because it's a very good built story-line, but the creature herself "The Birch".
This T.V series deserve a lot of attention, it deserves a movie to release in theaters, like come on!, Out of all people, Jason Blum and Blumhouse Production back this company up a lot, which shows a lot of promise.
