Kamini Zantoko (Seyolo's son) was a part of the writers of the film.
Original title "Welcome To Marly-Gomont".
Based on a true story: Kamini Zantoko's father finished medical school in his native country of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo). He took a job as the (only) doctor in the tiny rural French town of Marly-Gomont. Kamini grew up there and in 2006 he wrote, recorded, and shot a music video (with his friends and a camcorder) about his hometown. In the song (titled "Marly-Gomont"), he rapped about how life in the countryside was much different from living in a large city. He described his experiences growing up as the only black family in the village and how he encountered prejudice. He uploaded his music video to YouTube, and it became a sensation. He signed a recording contract with RCA 2 months later.
