Exclusive: Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Chelsea Frei (The Moodys), and Larry Joe Campbell (The Orville) have been set for guest star roles in the forthcoming second season of Fox’s popular workplace comedy Animal Control, starring Joel McHale.
Others set to appear in S2 guest roles, as previously announced, include Ken Jeong, Sarah Chalke, and Krystal Smith.
Premiering last February, the show created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Dan Sterling follows a group of local Animal Control workers whose lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not. McHale plays Frank, an opinionated, eccentric Animal Control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room. A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he’s so cynical and curmudgeonly. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals.

Exclusive: Joel McHale got up close and personal with a baby cougar for Fox‘s Super Bowl ad promoting the network’s new comedy series Animal Control.
The spot, which will air during Sunday’s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, pokes fun at the cost of an ad for the big game as McHale quips: “Wanna hear something crazy? This ad cost 3 million, and only half of that went toward my hair.”
He adds: “And everything you’ve heard is true. Attractive cougars in your area want to meet you.”
His co-star (the baby cougar) sits peacefully in his arms as he tells viewers to tune in Thursdays at 9 p.m. for the show. In an outtake, McHale jokes that Fox only gave the show 15 seconds for their ad, which, coincidentally, is “the maximum amount of time you can hold a cougar before it decides to maul you.

Leary played Tommy Gavin, a New York City firefighter, across seven seasons of the FX series “Rescue Me,” which he created alongside executive producer Peter Tolan. He was nominated twice for lead actor at the Emmys for his role, and once for writing.
Most recently, he starred in “The Moodys” on Fox.

Denis Leary will recur on NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime. The Rescue Me co-creator and star will play Frank Donnelly, a fellow member of the NYPD who engages with Det. Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni.
He is the latest star to join the series, after Deadline revealed that Jennifer Beals was set to play the wife of Mykelti Williamson’s Preston Webb, a drug kingpin in New York and the head of the Marcy Corporation.
Law & Order: Organized Crime, from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, brought Svu‘s Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler character back to the fold in the NYPD organized crime unit.
The series, currently in its second season, was created by Wolf, who executive produces along with showrunner Ilene Chaiken, Terry Miller, Fred Berner, Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski.
Leary recently starred in The Moodys on Fox and recurred on TNT’s Animal Kingdom.

Seth MacFarlane may be critical of Fox Corp. as a whole, but the broadcast network arm of the company is confident he and his hit comedy “Family Guy” will be with the network for years to come.
“‘Family Guy’ is part of the Fox DNA,” Michael Thorn, Fox Entertainment’s president of entertainment, told Variety. “Creatively, they continue to thrive, and we plan on keeping it on our air for for a while. We enjoy a really great relationship with Seth and the other executive producers on the show.”
“Family Guy” was renewed through 2022 back in September 2020, but MacFarlane has taken a number of shots at Fox Corp. since then, specifically referencing Fox News host Tucker Carlson on multiple occasions. In a tweet he posted this August, MacFarlane said “Tucker Carlson’s latest opinion piece once again makes me wish Family Guy was on any other network. Look, Fox, we...

Yet another Jungle Entertainment series is headed Stateside – this time drama Wakefield, with Showtime snapping up the US rights.
It’s the second Australian acquisition by the ViacomCBS-owned premium network of late, having also picked up See-Saw Films’ The End last September.
Created by Kristen Dunphy and originally commissioned by the ABC, Wakefield explores the fine line between sanity and madness through the perspectives of staff and patients at a psychiatric facility.
The cast is lead by Brit Rudi Dharmalingham, a gifted nurse, who is the sanest person in what is a pretty crazy place. But when a song gets stuck in his head, a dark secret from his past begins to intrude into his present.
The ensemble also includes Mandy McElhinney, Geraldine Hakewill, Harriet Dyer, Ryan Corr, Sam Simmons and Felicity Ward.

Showtime has headed down under for its latest drama series acquisition.
The ViacomCBS premium cabler has picked up Wakefield, an Australian series starring The Split’s Rudi Dharmalingam and set an October 18 premiere date.
The eight-episode series, which debuted on Australian public broadcaster ABC in April, is a psychological drama that shines a comedic light on what happens when the sanest individual working in a psych ward begins to lose his grip. It is inspired by creator Kristen Dunphy’s personal experiences.
Dharmalingam plays Nik Katira, who after years working as psych nurse at Wakefield, is exceptionally good at his job. With a gift for soothing the afflicted and reaching the unreachable, he’s the most stable person in what tends to be a pretty crazy place. Fox is saying goodbye to The Moodys.
The network will not be bringing the family comedy series, which stars Denis Leary and Elizabeth Perkins, back for a third season.
It’s not a huge surprise after the network quietly pulled it from the schedule after its fifth episode of the second season. The last episode is expected to air on June 20.
The show, based on Australian series A Moody Christmas, started as a holiday event comedy series with the first installment airing during the holiday season in 2019. Fox brought it back for a second season as an ongoing family comedy, but the half-hour starring Denis Leary has struggled to get traction, ranking among the lowest rated Fox series.
Written by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Tad Quill, The Moodys follows the tight-knit, but slightly dysfunctional, Moody family through their misadventures.

Fox is revisiting the Moody clan. The network has decided to air the remaining episodes of the second season of The Moodys. Has the TV show been cancelled or, could there be a third season?
A single-camera family sitcom, The Moodys stars Denis Leary, Elizabeth Perkins, Jay Baruchel, Chelsea Frei, and Francois Arnaud. Guests include Maria Gabriela de Faria, Gerry Dee, and Josh Segarra. Based on an Australian TV show, this series revolves around the Moody family of five. They are a tight-knit, though slightly dysfunctional, group and each has his/her own eccentricities. Sean Moody Sr. (Leary) and his wife, Ann (Perkins), are parents of three grown children -- the youngest and "creative one", Dan (Arnaud); overachiever middle-child Bridget (Frei); and Sean Jr. (Baruchel), is the eldest sibling and the "screw-up". Season two picks up with Sean Sr.

The cast of Prodigal Son may not be ready to say goodbye to the beloved series, but they celebrated an impressive two-season run after Fox canceled it.
“What a trip. Playing Malcolm has been a joy and a privilege. The best cast on network TV and the most unique show around," Tom Payne wrote on Twitter shortly after the news broke.
He added, "We did it in style. Love to everyone who enjoyed it all along with us. And check out the last two eps! They Are Amazing."
Bellamy Young shared her own thoughts on the cancellation.
“Just wanted to pop on & say Thank You, wonderful #Prodigies, for sharing this adventure with us," the former Scandal star wrote.
"I am, as you can imagine, heartbroken that we can’t keep telling this story. We’re gonna go out in Style tho- these last 2 eps are Fire. Love each of you.

It’s the case of good news-bad news for Fox’s The Moodys.
The good news is that the remaining three episodes have been scheduled. The bad news is that they are getting the burn-off treatment, with two episodes airing back-to-back on June 6 and the last one dropping two weeks later, on June 20.
While not officially canceled, The Moodys is headed into that direction, especially after the series was recently quietly pulled from the Fox schedule after five episodes.
Following an initial run as a holiday event series, Fox brought the adaptation of the Australian format back as an ongoing family comedy. The half-hour starring Denis Leary struggled to get traction, ranking among the lowest rated Fox series, before it was taken off the schedule after the April 22 episode.
