Rick and Morty’s seventh season has had an air of controversy and intrigue surrounding it as series creator Justin Roiland was fired by the show and Adult Swim due to felony domestic abuse charges being brought against him. Even though Roiland hadn’t been involved in any major creative decisions with the series for years, he still voiced the eponymous duo as well as other side characters up to his departure. With Roiland gone, the creative team behind Rick and Morty had some seemingly large shoes to fill to get the new season done on time and make sure the change was virtually seamless for long-time fans.
Rather than going the Solar Opposites route and bringing in a well-known actor with a different voice to replace Roiland and making a bit out of the whole thing, Rick and Morty showrunner Scott Marder decided to take a different approach. To start,...

“Rick and Morty” finally revealed the new voices of the titular characters in Sunday’s Season 7 premiere episode following star and co-creator Justin Roiland’s ousting over sexual misconduct allegations.
Shrouded in mystery until now, the credits announced that Ian Cardoni is the new voice of Rick Sanchez and Harry Belden is the voice of Rick’s grandson Morty.
In contrast to Dan Stevens taking over Roiland’s role on the Hulu animated series “Solar Opposites,” the “Rick and Morty” team opted to cast a wide net to find soundalikes for the beloved characters, which is why they went with these two largely unknown actors.
Cardoni’s credits include a small role in Larry David’s HBO movie “Clear History” and an uncredited role in “Grown Ups,” and he’s done a lot of voiceover work.
Belden’s resume is similarly a bit scant – he was in an episode of...

After a nearly six-month search that featured thousands of candidates, newcomers Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden now find themselves squarely in the spotlight after they officially made their debut as the voices of the narcissistic, alcoholic genius Rick (Ian Cardoni) and his bumbling grandson Morty (Harry Belden), respectively, in the season seven premiere of the Adult Swim animated hit.
Sunday’s premiere marked the first episode of Rick and Morty without co-creator Justin Roiland, who until now had voiced both characters (among others) for all of the show’s 61 previous episodes. Roiland was fired from the cult hit and saw his Hollywood empire implode after allegations of domestic violence surfaced and reports, including in The Hollywood Reporter, uncovered years of his allegedly troubling behavior. An Orange County District Attorney dismissed the domestic violence charges, citing insufficient evidence, and has also denied new allegations of misconduct that range from sexual harassment to sexual assault.

Philip Baker Hall, one of Hollywood’s most recognizable character actors, has died at the age of 90. He was best known today for his roles on “Seinfeld” and in the films of Paul Thomas Anderson. The news was first announced by Hall’s neighbor and friend, Los Angeles sports writer Sam Farmer, on Twitter.
“My neighbor, friend, and one of the wisest, most talented and kindest people I’ve ever met, Philip Baker Hall, died peacefully last night. He was surrounded by loved ones. The world has an empty space in it,” Framer wrote on Twitter.
Hall was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1931 to Alice Birdene and William Alexander Hall. He attended the University of Toledo and served as a U.S. Army translator in Germany before launching his acting career in some small New York theater productions. Hall made his film debut in 1970’s “Cowards,” from director Simon Nuchtern. He...

Eva Mendes has floated a potential end to her near-decade long hiatus from acting. The actor has not starred in a feature film since a small supporting role in partner Ryan Gosling’s 2014’s directorial effort “Lost River,” although she lent her voice to a role on a 2021 episode of “Bluey” on ABC Kids. Mendes appeared on “The View” and said her potential return to acting would have specific requirements.
“I have such a short list of what I will do, with four kids,” Mendes said (via Entertainment Weekly). “I mean, if it was a fun project. But now I won’t do violence, I don’t want to do sexuality, the list is short.”
“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin asked Mendes if she would end her acting break if a “special project” came her way that met all of her requirements, to which the actor answered, “I hope so.

In a move that can only be described as “Larry David-esque,” HBO Max has postponed the planned two-part Larry David documentary from release hours before it was supposed to premiere.
“The #LarryDavidStory on @hbomax is being postponed,” a tweet from the HBO Documentaries account reads announcing the change. “Instead, Larry has decided he wants to do it in front of an audience. Stay tuned for more info.”
The two-part documentary, directed by longtime “Curb Your Enthusiasm” collaborator Larry Charles was supposed to debut on March 1 at 9pm Et/Pt and promised an unfiltered at the life of David. “This insightful two-part documentary finds the 74-year-old sitting down with friend/director Larry Charles for a peek behind the proverbial curtain, as David gets candid about his personal and professional highs and lows, from his humble beginnings as an unfunny Brooklyn kid to becoming America’s favorite misanthrope,” the official synopsis reads in part.

Apple announced today that Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning actress Kate Hudson will star alongside Octavia Spencer, who is a two-time Oscar winner and Golden Globe Award-winner, making Truth Be Told a star-studded affair, indeed!
The second season of the drama, which provides a glimpse into America’s obsession with true crime podcasts, is set to begin production in Los Angeles on October 26.
If you missed the first season, Spencer plays Poppy Parnell, a podcaster that was propelled to nationwife fame for a case that she thought was solved.
The first season found Poppy dragged into the spotlight once again when new evidence appears that suggests she got it all wrong.

It’s been about five years since Greg Mottola made a feature-length movie, 2011’s sci-fi comedy “Paul,” but the “Superbad” director has remained busy directing the HBO movie “Clear History” starring Larry David, Jon Hamm and more. Now that Larry David has announced the return of Curb Your Enthusiasm, fans of his beloved HBO series have a lot of questions. Jeff Schaffer, who is David's right-hand man for the newly announced season nine, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter to answer some of them. Namely, why now? The Seinfeld creator — who has spent his time since Curb pouring ideas into HBO's Clear History, Broadway's Fish In the Dark and a multitude of Saturday Night Live appearances, among other things — has always been carrying around his notebook and jotting down ideas, says Schaffer. "You go out

The first round of 2014 Emmy Awards were handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony on Saturday (August 16) night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The ceremony, which precedes the Monday, August 25 Primetime Emmy Awards telecast, offered signs of hope for a number of drama and comedy hopefuls. Netflix's "Orange Is The New Black," for example, won Emmys for editing, series casting and for Uzo Aduba, who is considered a guest actress for the purposes of these awards. No other comedy series was able to build any other momentum going into next week's show, with "The Big Bang Bang Theory," "Nurse Jackie," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" grabbing isolated tech prizes and Jimmy Fallon winning the Guest Actor in a Comedy Series award for the second time in three years for his "Saturday Night Live" hosting duties. The third installment of Ryan Murphy’s "American Horror Story" was a charm for James Levine as he reaped his first Emmy nomination for composing the music score to FX’s "Coven." -Break- Levine submitted the miniseries supremely competitive finale "The Seven Wonders" to Emmy judges, which opens with Stevie Nicks performing her original song of the same title. Levine admitted that having his music follow such a legend made him a bit nervous: "You feel there’s a responsibility. You want to make sure that you can stand by it 100% and just know that you've literally been as truthful and honest with your music as she has with hers." Luckily, he doesn't have to worry about Steve Nicks competing alongside him in the race for Best Music Composition for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special (Original Dramatic Score), but he does face other stiff competition: Ludovic Bource ("Clear History&quo.

The good news is Larry David wants to do more Curb Your Enthusiasm. The bad news is that he’s not getting started any time soon. The last new episode of the show aired back in 2011 when season eight concluded, and instead of doing another quickly, David wrote and starred in the very Curb-like TV movie Clear History. (It was pretty, pretty, pretty good!)Fortunately, David’s not done with the show just yet. HBO programming president Michael Lombardo told reporters at the network’s summer press tour session today that the two recently bumped into each other at an event where David told Lombardo about his plans for the rest of the year. Those plans did not include more Curb. “I said, ‘So, David, should I emotionally get Curb out of my head?’ And he goes, ‘No, no, no, no, no,’” Lombardo said. HBO’s willing to be patient.

Somewhere Liza Minnelli is salivating. That comment alone suggests that this bedazzled one-piece isn't exactly what we expect to see on Kate Hudson. The boho-loving blonde is known for her sexy minis and edgy gowns, not her Dynasty-style jumpsuits. Is the Clear History star entering the golden years of her fashion life or are black tie granny looks the new hot-young-thing wear? There is much about this Armani Privé look to totally adore. The pale purple color is absolutely gorgeous against this California native's lightly bronzed skin. Horizontal striped sparkles are about the smartest thing a woman can wear to lengthen every line on her body, and we're even slightly enamored by the...

Bill Hader is returning to TV, correction, HBO. The “Saturday Night Live” alum has entered into a deal with the premium cable channel to develop and star in a comedy series, a network representative told TheWrap. Hader wrapped his eight-season stint as a regular castmember and writer on NBC's “SNL” last year. He has returned to the show a couple times, including last weekend's episode hosted by “Brooklyn-Nine-Nine” star and fellow alum Andy Samberg. Kate Hudson is presenting a tricky style situation. On the one hand, the Clear History star is wearing what appears to be a wall tapestry and a Sumo wrestler's t-shirt. But on the other hand, she kind of looks amazing! Is the blonde beauty just the victim of slightly oversized clothing? Would a tighter top save this whole style? Or is the combo so bohemian that it's beyond our fashion understanding? As far as we can tell those are either wide-legged island pants or some kind of wrap skirt made from a gorgeous piece of cloth. We doubt many celebs could pull off the style without looking like they're swimming in the fabric, but Kate's flowy figure is the perfect fit. Regarding the giant, dark...

We still haven't seen Ryan Murphy's HBO AIDS drama "The Normal Heart," but it sure is being set up to dominate the TV movie field, with only a few, divisive others -- "Killing Kennedy," "The Trip To Bountiful," "Burton and Taylor," "Barrymore" and "Clear History" -- really in the mix here. Not a very extensive batch for the Emmys' return to dividing the TV Movie and Miniseries categories (which were as one for a few years there). The comedy gods are smiling down on Hollywood, as an almost surefire success is in the quickly moving developmental stages. Fox 2000 is teaming up with the super-producer couple Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald for the suburban comedy Keeping Up With the Joneses, and they.ve landed two whopper male leads in Zach Galifianakis and Jon Hamm, two guys who should become an official comedic duo at some point in the future. Both actors are still negotiating their deals, but the deal has already been completed with director Greg Mottola to helm this feature. Having most recently handled Larry David.s awkwardly enjoyable HBO movie Clear History, which also starred Hamm, Mottola is more recognizable for such riotous gems as Superbad and Adventureland, and his work on series like Arrested Development and Undeclared. This trio is just oozing with potential, although the only plotline THR has is generic enough to go...

Earlier this month, Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader showed off some suprising dramatic chops in Sundance hit The Skeleton Twins (check out Dominic Mill’s four-star review here), and it looks like the actor is shaping up to have a truly terrific year. Hader has just entered negotiations to take on a lead role in Knocked Up director Judd Apatow’s next big-screen comedy vehicle, the Amy Schumer-starring Trainwreck.
Though the film’s script, which was penned by Schumer, is being kept tightly under wraps, at least for now, we do know that it will center around a basket case (Schumer) who attempts to get her life back on track, dragging her boyfriend, best friend and parents along for the ride. Though Hader’s role has not been specified as of yet, we’re betting he’ll play the boyfriend.
Trainwreck is intended to serve as a starring vehicle for the comedienne.

All I can do is tell you that it's big, huge, gigantic. Even bigger than that Amazon package." (He...

We're not sure if Larry David is a Knicks fan. But judging by his expression at this Knicks game, we're also not sure if he's an anything fan. The Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star recently appeared in the HBO film Clear History, though it seems to have done little to elevate his mood. Given that David has made an entire career out of being an eternally put-upon outsider, a photo of him intently scowling at nothing in particular while surrounded by people who seem to be having the time of their lives is probably the most appropriate visual...

The premise of the HBO movie Clear History is a simple one: revenge. But with Larry David at its head, this becomes a comedic tale of revenge with a heavy emphasis on The Fountainhead. Of course, Larry David’s brand of comedy is an acquired taste (I can only assume) and leaves the film feeling more like a series of (poor) stand-up comedy jokes under the loose framework of a story.
Nathan (Larry David with shoulder-length gray locks and a grisly gray beard to match) is an unfunny schmuck working for automobile inventor Will Haney (Jon Hamm). Will, an obsessive fan of The Fountainhead, has named his new car the Howard. Claiming no one would drive a car with such a name, Nathan quits, losing his stock in the company. Realizing his mistake, he goes back to Will, begging for his job; but Will casts him aside. So, when the...

“Intolerance”
“Intolerance” would be a massive, amazing undertaking in 2013. Can you even put in perspective what it was like 100 years ago? Arguably one of the most important and influential silent films ever made, “Intolerance” runs almost three hours and covers centuries of storytelling. It’s a fascinating film both in the history of cinema and the way it addressed cultural concerns of the time. Cohen Media Group continues to expertly restore and highlight great films. They’re quickly rising the ranks of the most important Blu-ray studios working today.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Extended Edition) A lot of Hobbit related content lately what with the three-minute trailer and eight new posters for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and now the extended edition of the first film which features 13 additional minutes, bringing the grand total to 182 minutes. Personally, I'm not interested, but if you are, Slashfilm has done a write up on the additional footage.

This week: A big week for Jon Hamm with Clear History and Mad Men Season 6. Also: The White House gets attacked again, a longer Hobbit, and Grown Ups 2: Grown Uppier. ► After the masterpiece that was its fifth season, Season 6 of Mad Men lets things simmer for a bit before the painful downfall of Don Draper kicks into gear. It’s grueling to watch, as both Don’s marriage and ad agency partnership seem to disintegrate...

The star looked sexier than ever in her cutout, backless gown — and we have all the details on her dress right here!
All eyes were on Kate Hudson on Nov. 2, when the 34-year-old mother-of-two attended the 2013 Lacma Art + Film Gala in La, which honored Martin Scorsese and David Hockney. The actress looks like she’s in the best shape of her life, and she clearly has no qualms about showing it off! Her long, Gucci gown featured a plunging neckline and side cutouts which revealed both her ample assets and allowed her to flaunt her trim and toned tummy — just look at that definition!
Kate Hudson’s Lacma Gala Dress:
While Kate’s dress was insanely sexy from the front, it still sizzled from the back! The star turned around to reveal the open, bare back that also allowed her to show a lot more skin. The nude halter gown...

There are three groups of people in this world: those who love Larry David, those who hate Larry David, and those who have never cared to find out either way. Before viewing Clear History, I counted myself among those individuals in the third category. Somehow, through the years, I’ve avoided his HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasm completely and only managed to catch a few Seinfelds here and there. Though I had previously heard acclaim for David’s ‘comedic genius’ from friends and family, I’d never gained any familiarity with his neurotic, observant brand of humor. So it was with great curiosity that I settled in for Clear History, an HBO original film that David co-wrote and stars in. Unfortunately, the film doesn’t make a strong case for the comedian as scarce laughs, an instantly forgettable plot and an ill-conceived overabundance of supporting stars make me wish I...

The sequel no one really asked for, Beetlejuice 2 is looking like it’s going to become a reality. The film has been talked about for years and Tim Burton has never said for sure if it was a go or not. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter writer Seth Grahame-Smith wrote a new screenplay, and Burton said if he liked it he would be involved. Well Smith apparently delivered the good because The Wrap reports that Burton is in talks to direct the sequel.
Michael Keaton was in HBO’s Clear History, Birdman, the upcoming remake of RoboCop, and the adaptation of the video game Need for Speed. He’s a busy man but said in 2010 when asked about a sequel to Beetlejuice: “Oh, I’d do that in a heartbeat… Absolutely. That’s the one thing I’d love to do again.”

Alums of NBC’s biggest 1990s comedy series, Shana Goldberg-Meehan and Scott Silveri of Friends and David Mandel of Seinfeld, have teamed for a new multi-camera comedy at CBS. The network has handed a pilot production commitment to the untitled project, directed by veteran multi-camera helmer Andy Ackerman. Written/exec produced by Goldberg-Meehan, Silveri and Mandel, the family comedy centers on a couple with adult children. Warner Bros. TV, which produced Friends, is producing with Goldberg-Meehan and Silveri’s Silver and Gold Prods and Mandel’s Woltz International Pictures. This marks the first collaboration of husband-and-wife duo Goldberg-Meehan and Silveri since they created the Friends spinoff Joey. Over the past decade, the two had worked on separate projects, including creating series Perfect Couples and Go On (Silveri) and Better With You (Goldberg-Meehan). Mandel is a frequent collaborator with Seinfeld co-creator Larry David, working as an exec producer on his HBO...

Things get hairy between Larry David (r.) and Jon Hamm in Clear History.
Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame (infamy?) stars in the HBO film comedy Clear History, which was written as a story outline by David and the creative team behind Curb.
In Clear History, David stars as Nathan, a marketing executive at a start-up electric car company who gives up his ten percent of the business after a petty argument with his boss (Jon Hamm, TV’s Mad Men). The company subsequently makes billions of dollars, destroying Nathan’s life and leaving him publicly humiliated. Ten years later, after changing his name to Rolly and moving to a small island off the Massachusetts coast, all is well – until something from the past threatens his new life.
Directed by Greg Mottola (Paul), the movie features...

If Eva Mendes showed up for school pick-up in this look, she'd turn every dad and mom's head. The Clear History hottie has perfected the sexy housewife style with her own dress design for New York & Company, and she's never even been a wife! We have a feeling she has spent a lot of time watching a combo of Real Housewives and Mad Men, and spying on celeb friends who rock a very specific Hampton chic. Our favorite thing about this look is that it says "sexy" without showing all. The light fabric hugs the body perfectly and that tied waist highlights a hourglass figure. We're also big fans of the scarlet shade—one of fall's hottest hues. Eva also keeps it classy with tie-front pumps...

Kate Hudson and her costar, Zach Braff, popped up on a pier in Santa Monica to film scenes for their latest, Wish I Was Here, yesterday. Kate and Zach both indulged in a beer and a bit of Pda during the night infront of the cameras. The duo have been hard at work on the film recently shooting scenes together earlier this week as well as last week with Kate making a wide range of wardrobe changes from revealing short shorts to a conservative pantsuit on set. Kate has moved on to her new project with Zach on the West Coast after a stint in London to film for her other upcoming movie, Good People, with James Franco. She has been keeping busy balancing mom duty and work obligations since she arrived back in the States at the end of last month. She hit the red carpet to premiere another new film,...

Jon Hamm is one of my favorite actors working today and I am still baffled that he hasn't been headlining more films. From his epic turn as Don Draper on Mad Men to great turns in Bridesmaids, The Town, and Larry David's recent HBO film Clear History, Hamm has proven he can handle anything from comic hijinks to heavy drama. While he may not be a superhero yet (give this guy Batman already!), he is on his way to big screen top billing. His first real test as the lead for a big studio film...

For fans of Larry David (among whom I count myself) and his masterful modern comedies Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, the potential was bursting for his latest writing and starring effort Clear History to transport you back to those heydays. On the other hand, for those who find his brand of uptight, quick fire improvisational humour grating, they will find themselves trapped in 100 minutes of quirky hell.
While there are extended instances of David’s untethered wit on display in this HBO production, and though it assembles a darkly comedic series of events (and a well matched ensemble), this comedy of errors falls flat too early on to fully recover and never twists up all its juicy subplots satisfyingly enough for me to recommend it.
The opening act of Clear History is pure neurotic torture, coming off as more a parody of David’s usual material than something crafted by the man himself.

Title: Clear History Director: Greg Mottola Starring: Larry David, Jon Hamm, Danny McBride, Amy Ryan, Eva Mendes, Micheal Keaton, Kate Hudson, J.B. Smoove, Bill Hader, Liev Schreiber, Philip Baker Hall As both a writer and performer, Larry David has mined anxiety, irritation, social faux pas and self-flagellating neuroses for all sorts of uncomfortable laughs. It seems no empty pose, though, this persona; it feels hard-wired to his soul. Without the angst, and its slip-sleeve of puffed-up, mock-selfishness he got to slip on for HBO’s Emmy Award-winning “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” would there actually be a Larry David? Well, “Clear History” provides no answer to that question, for those wondering. Debuting this [ Read More ]
