Sex & Nudity
-
- Cinemax content advisory: rated R for strong sexual content (SSC), rape (RP), GV (graphic violence), GL (graphic language)
- We see a strip show. Very NC-17-rated. Explicit, persistent, nudity and strip-teasing. A very strong sex scenes too.
Violence & Gore
-
- Frequent, graphic killings. And a very brutal montage of street violence in which one woman might have been raped. A few breaks in between though, especially in emotional scene. Also NC-17. Again, don't let the R rating fool you.
Profanity
-
- Don't let the R-rating fool you. This is more than just hard R (the UK equivalent being 18, which it was; in reality it's more like an X - by UK standards - film and probably was originally that) - this movie likely was originally NC-17 (or X, depending on if it was released in 1989 or 1991). This movie is not for kids. There is non-stop NC-17 profanity, NC-17 sex, and the violence is gruesome enough to be NC-17, very graphic. Definitely not for kids.
- Almost nonstop NC-17 profanity, except for a few emotional scenes (even then Tito curses when he's mad). Constant usage of the F-word. And a scene with cops using nasty racial slurs.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- Graphic drug use throughout and scenes of drugs. This is one of the most NC-17 gangster/street/hood movies (even though it was R). Up there with "GoodFellas" (which was originally NC-17), and "Fresh" (which was likely NC-17 originally, but that was for a different reason - bizarre violence).
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- The nature of this movie is intense.
