By our estimates, Lewis Hamilton has traveled more than 80,000 miles this year, both for his job as one of the premiere drivers in Formula 1, and for leisure, as a perpetual tourist who’s always looking for his next adventure. And that’s not counting the 60-plus laps he drives on the track each race day either. It’s no surprise then, that Hamilton craves a little bit of stillness when he finds himself alone. And for as long as he can remember, Hamilton has found his solace in music.

On Sunday, Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. debuted the first trailer for “F1,” the blockbuster Formula 1 racing thriller from “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski with Oscar winner Brad Pitt in the lead role.
The film, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, focuses on a former driver (Pitt) “who returns to Formula 1, alongside Damson Idris as his teammate at Apxgp, a fictional team on the grid.” To help with the authenticity, seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton served as a producer on the film and a creative consultant; Kosinski and his team shot the film during actual Grand Prix weekends with Pitt and Idris driving real race cars.
“We’ve got Brad and Damson actually driving the cars, which is pretty spectacular in itself, but to do that in front of a live audience and at the speeds they’re doing it and figuring out a way to capture it,...

If Joseph Kosinski’s last film “Top Gun: Maverick” is any metric, his next film “F1,” starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris as teammates in the world of Formula 1 racing, is set up to be another propulsive, edge-of-your set experience about man’s bond with machine and the limits it can take you to.
Kosinski filmed actual scenes at last year’s British Grand Prix, as well as other races throughout the season, incorporating footage of actors actually behind the wheel of F1 vehicles along with real-life drivers like Lewis Hamilton.
In addition to Pitt and Idris, “F1” also boasts a cast that includes Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.
According to the official synopsis of the film, “F1” follows former Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes (Pitt), who is lured back to the sport to partner rookie teammate Joshua Pearce (Idris) at the fictional Apxgp team.

Exclusive: Jerry Bruckheimer and Joseph Kosinski worked together on Top Gun: Maverick and the pair have re-teamed for Apple Original Films’ F1. They won’t be getting airborne this time but are applying high-octane lessons gleaned from their previous effort as they buckle up for the motor-racing movie.
The film is made in partnership with Formula 1 and its 10 teams, which means access to the paddock and tracks and effectively becoming embedded to the extent that director Kosinski says: “We’re the eleventh team.”
Brad Pitt stars as a former driver who returns to Formula 1 in the movie, alongside Damson Idris as his teammate at the fictional Apxgp team. Real F1 drivers will feature and the picture will, Bruckheimer says, incorporate events from F1 races.
Nothing in F1 is cheap and the film comes with a hefty price tag. As the strikes caused a scheduling pit-stop, reports said the budget was swelling to $300 million.

One of the most anticipated movies for 2025 is undoubtedly the big-budget Formula One drama produced by Apple. Brad Pitt stars in what everyone involved no doubt hopes will become the definitive F1 movie, with it seemingly cut from the same cloth as classics like John Frankenheimer’s Grand Prix or the Steve McQueen passion project, Le Mans. Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski is directing, with none other than Jerry Bruckheimer producing.
Yet, despite the high pedigree, very little has been revealed about the production – until now that is, with new distributor Warner Bros finally unveiling the movie’s first teaser trailer, which gives us a taste of the authentic F1 action (the movie is also titled – fittingly enough – F1) while Queen’s “We Will Rock You” fills the soundtrack.
