"Are you dating hot rabbi?" "Yes, chef!" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a romantic comedy series titled Nobody Wants This, streaming this fall. The love story series is created & written by actress Erin Foster, following the unexpected relationship between a rogue rabbi and an irascible, loud, agnostic woman. "This show really represents how I view love now, which is so different than how I viewed it before," Erin states. "Being in a really beautiful, healthy, fun relationship, it made me soften some of my cynicism." She adds: "This show is based on the only good decision I ever made: falling for a nice Jewish boy. But I realized that being happy is way harder than being miserable — there’s nothing to complain about. So, I created this show based on all the ways that finding the right person can be so hard." Okay. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody...

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody play the most unlikely couple of our dreams in Netflix’s new romantic comedy series “Nobody Wants This.” The show hails from creator Erin Foster (“Barely Famous”), who based the story on her own life. She serves as showrunner alongside “Kevin Can F** Himself” showrunner Craig Digregorio.
In the trailer, Bell is introduced as a Joanne, an agnostic podcast host who meets an intriguing man named Noah (Brody) at a dinner party, and is surprised to realize his profession: a rabbi.
“You’re a rabbi?” Bell’s Joanne asks Brody’s Noah in the trailer for the new series. “It’s hot, right?” Noah responds.
As the pair kick off their relationship, it’s hard not to let their families intervene, with Joanne’s sister, Morgan (Justine Lupe) immediately pointing out the couple is a “weird pair.” Noah, on the other hand, is fresh out of a relationship,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the grown-ish series finale “Grown.”] Grown-ish bid farewell after six seasons in an emotional series finale on May 22. In the penultimate episode, Zoey (Yara Shahidi) bolted after Aaron’s (Trevor Jackson) romantic proposal, and she consulted Ana (Francia Raisa), Nomi (Emily Arlook), Vivek (Jordan Buhat), and more about how to handle this delicate situation. So, did Zoey and Aaron get their happy ending? Luka (Luka Sabbat) tried one last time to win Zoey’s heart, but barely tried at all. He FaceTimed Zoey and told her that he’d always loved her. Zoey put him firmly in the friend zone and said they’d forever be “long distance pals.” A big L for Team Luka. Zoey and Aaron were forced to confront their future at Junior’s graduation boat party. She explained that she’s spent the last year trying to be “less selfish” and a “more balanced person.” Zoey admitted that she “...

Taking cues from The Cosby Show’s iconic spinoff A Different World but updated for some 30 years later, Grown-ish, the Black-ish spawn premiered on Freeform in January 2018 by following Yara Shahidi’s Zoey Johnson, Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Bow’s (Tracee Ellis Ross) firstborn, to college. Similar to its predecessor, Grown-ish tackled many controversial topics, including university investment in the prison system, drug use, pre-nil exploitation of college athletes, sex, the value of college and more, but did so with a fresh voice and perspective.
Zoey’s college world included her competing love interests — woke Black campus activist Aaron (Trevor Jackson) and ultimate hipster Luca (Luka Sabbat) — as well as Latina Republican Ana (Francia Raìsa), Jewish rebel Nomi (Emily Arlook), first-generation Indian American and all-around hustler Vivek (Jordan Buhat), Olympic-bound South Los Angeles track stars Jazz and Sky (sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey, who perform the show’s theme song) and later,...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the series finale of Freeform’s grown-ish.
It’s the end of an era.
Freeform’s grown-ish ended its run Wednesday night after six seasons with Junior (Marcus Scribner) celebrating his graduation in a bit of an unexpected way.
While he and his friends are hoping for one last hoorah before their adult life begins, Junior’s plans for a graduation party are interrupted by his new boss, who needs him to tend to a client’s yacht all day instead. Fresh off a rejected proposal, Aaron (Trevor Jackson) decides to join him and hopefully avoid Zoey (Yara Shahidi) at all costs.
Their friends have other ideas, though. Before long, this stranger’s yacht is filled to the brim with 20-somethings and bottles of alcohol.
Junior spends much of the party pretty frantically trying to make sure his boss doesn’t find out...

Netflix’s list of films premiering on the streaming service in 2023 isn’t nearly as long as their ambitious 2022 film slate. Yet even with a slimmed-down slate, the lineup of movies arriving this year is impressive and checks off nearly every genre.
The streamer will be dipping back into familiar territory with sequels to Murder Mystery and Extraction. Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, Sam Esmail’s Leave the World Behind, and David Yates’ The Pain Hustlers will premiere this year, as will the film continuation of Luther starring Idris Elba. Whether you go into the trailer without knowing a thing about it or simply listen to it with your eyes closed, it won't be hard to figure out whose mind is behind Netflix's upcoming original film, "You People." Kenya Barris' fingerprints are all over this project, which fits in neatly with the rest of his resume. Not unlike "Black-ish," "Grown-ish," "Mixed-ish," "BlackAF," and 2022's "Cheaper By The Dozen," Barris' directorial feature debut will explore the struggles of family dynamics and clashing cultures via a modern-day multiracial relationship. This time, the drama is shared between two different families on the verge of becoming one.
When Ezra Cohen (Jonah Hill) and Amira Mohammed (Lauren London) fall in love, they have no choice but to introduce their families and pray that nothing goes terribly wrong. But where's the fun in things going well? The tagline of "You People" speaks for itself: "Opposites attract,...

Netflix has dropped the full trailer for You People, its upcoming Kenya Barris comedy starring and co-written by Jonah Hill.
The three-minute teaser for Barris’ directorial debut delivers a fuller look at Hill’s character, Ezra Cohen, and his effort to find love, and more specifically, woo Lauren London’s Amira Mohammed in Los Angeles. At the top of the trailer, Ezra reveals to his friend (played by Sam Jay) his desperation to find partnership amid feeling “alone, on a building, dangling my legs off wondering what it’s like to feel companionship.”
“I don’t think I’ve heard of a man ever who wanted to be in a relationship so badly besides Drake,” says Jay.
Enter Amira, who — following an airport rideshare mix-up in which Ezra mistakes her for his actual Uber driver — causes Hill’s character to reveal that he’s “never felt so understood by somebody in my entire life.

Netflix released its first look at Kenya Barris’ directorial debut You People on Monday, teasing what’s in store for the modern rom-com starring Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, Nia Long and Lauren London.
Co-written and produced by Barris and Hill, the film follows a new couple, Ezra Cohen and Amira Mohammed, played by Hill and London respectively, who meet after he accidentally gets into her car. While initially shocked by his request for a date, the two quickly bond and consider taking their relationship to a more serious level.
But to do that, they’ll have to contend with their families’ clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences, including Cohen’s “progressive and semi-woke Jewish parents (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny),” per the film’s description, and “Amira’s unyielding yet concerned Muslim parents” played by Murphy and Long.

"Grown-ish" is finally returning for its fifth season on July 20, but this installment will look different in more ways than one. For starters, six original cast members who were part of Zoey's (Yara Shahidi) core group of Cal U buddies are bidding goodbye to the popular show. Season five of the Freeform coming-of-age comedy will follow a brand-new batch of freshmen. While we'll be reuniting with some "Grown-ish" favorites as season regulars - like Zoey, Trevor Jackson's Aaron, and Diggy Simmons's Doug (plus "Black-ish" star Marcus Scribner as Zoey's little brother Junior) - season four officially marks the end of an epic era for most of the original "Grown-ish" cast.
Showrunners Zakiyyah Alexander and Courtney Lilly shared with TVLine in March 2022 that while these beloved departing characters might not be the focus moving forward, there's always a possibility they might come back in future episodes. "Francia, Emily, Chlöe,...

This is not a happy hump day for Zoey Johnson. Freeform on Wednesday released the trailer for grown-ish‘s upcoming fifth season, which welcomes Junior (black-ish‘s Marcus Scribner) to Cal U as a full-time student — and a full-time problem for Zoey.
Let’s just cut right to it: The trailer’s 40-second mark finds Zoey walking in on Junior going to pound town with Luca’s younger sister Kiela (Daniella Perkins), and her reaction is pretty spot-on for someone who just witnessed their younger brother doing their ex-boyfriend’s sister against a bathroom sink.

“Black-ish” may be ending, but the series’ creative universe continues: Freeform has ordered a fifth season of spinoff “Grown-ish.” And as “Black-ish” concludes, another one of that long-running series’ cast members is now set to segue over to “Grown-ish”: Marcrus Scribner has officially been added to the show’s cast.
Scribner will reprise his role as Andre Johnson Jr., and as the network explains, “he embarks on his own journey to being ‘grown.'” In moving to “Grown-ish,” Scribner joins his TV sister, Yara Shahidi (who plays Zoey), on the show.
Also, as part of the Season 5 pickup, playwright/producer Zakiyyah Alexander and “Black-ish” executive producer/showrunner Courtney Lilly will take over as co-showrunners. Season 4 showrunner Julie Bean and executive producer Jenifer Rice-Genzuk Henry are departing the show.
