- In November 1944, the press announced that she was hired to portray Lucha Reyes in a film about the life of the legendary ranchera singer. Planned by producer Alfonso Sánchez Tello, the film was never made.
- Although many sources (including the official ones) say she was born in 1927, her birth certificate clearly states that she was born in 1924.
- At the height of her fame (early '40s to late '50s), she was considered the "young queen of ranchera song" and the successor to the late Lucha Reyes.
- Her Elías ancestors were originally from Cocula, Jalisco, the town considered to be "the birthplace of mariachi music".
- In 1951, she won the Lucha Reyes Award for Best Female Ranchera Singer.
