Former Cannes film market director Jerome Paillard, Indian actor and producer Rana Daggubati and Nicole Guillemet who was co-director of the Sundance Film Festival have joined the advisory board of the inaugural Cinevesture International Film Festival in India.

Internationally renowned filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan said that French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard changed the grammar of filmmaking and created his own path in making films. He was reacting to the passing away of the Franco-Swiss filmmaker on Tuesday, September 13, at the age of 91.
Adoor said Godard’s intellectual abilities were seen in his first movie ‘Breathless’. He questioned the traditional mode of filmmaking and created his own path. He has used a unique style of the character directly speaking to the audience. The acclaimed filmmaker said Godard had even developed a new methodology to make digital movies.

Chalachitra Academy Chairman director Ranjith announced to the audience that Bhavana is the special guest and thunderous applause followed as Bhavana walked to the stage. The actor was welcomed with a hug by Bina Paul, artistic director of Iffk and founder member of Wcc. The fest was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. "You are the role model of Kerala, Bhavana", said Minister of Culture, Saji Cherian in his speech. MollywoodVishal Bhardwaj is the composer for the Fahadh starrer 'Carbon'.Digital NativeDigital NativeMusic composer Vishal Bhardwaj, one of the most celebrated music composers in Bollywood, made his debut in the Malayalam film industry with the Manju Warrier starrer Daya in 1998. And 20 years later, he is back with the movie Carbon. Incidentally, Daya and Carbon were both directed by Venu. During the trailer launch of Carbon, which happened recently, Vishal Bhardwaj, in an interview to the Deccan Chronicle said that working in Malayalam movies is a challenge in itself. He is reported to have said,“It becomes very challenging, at the same time it is also very exciting. You come to know the meaning of the song from the lyricist or the director, but it still remains a phonetic sound for me. It is a very interesting exercise.” On working with director Venu, he said that both of them are aesthetically on the same wavelength which makes it much easier for them, adding that they are good friends as well. Venu makes his return to the director's chair after a gap. His last Mollywood outing was the Mammootty starrer, Munnariyippu, in 2014, which was hailed by the critics for its razor-sharp portrayal of crime and punishment. Carbon stars Fahadh Faasil and Mamta Mohandas in the lead roles with Dileesh Pothan, Nedumudi Venu and Soubin Shahir playing pivotal characters. Others in the star cast also include Ashokan, Lena, Vijayaraghavan, Kochu Preman and Chetan Lal. The technical crew of the film includes Ku Mohanan for cinematography and Beena Paul for editing. The recently released trailer of Carbon was well received by the audience .The shooting of this flick began around August last year and has been wrapped up. With the post production happening at full swing, Carbon is expected to hit the silver screens on March 10th. Touted to be a forest adventure, the film is set in the backdrop of a forest where a major portion of the film was shot. In the movie, Mamta Mohandas will be seen in the role of an uptown woman opposite Fahadh who is a village man. Carbon has been produced by Sibi Thottapuram and Navis Xaviour under the banner of Poetry Film House.

Previously, it was reported that Carbon would be a December release, and its makers have finally come up with an official announcement that the date is fixed for its release and that it would be January 19th. Sources say that the shooting was delayed by a few weeks as the team was waiting for the camera to arrive from abroad and this had an impact on Carbon’s release. Directed by cinematographer turned director Venu, Carbon has Fahadh Faasil playing the lead role. The film has Mamta Mohandas playing the female lead with Nedumudi Venu and Dileesh Pothan in significant roles along with Soubn Shahir, Ashokan, Vijayaraghavan, Lena, Master Chetan Lal, Sharafudheen and others. The technical crew of the film includes Vishal Bhardwaj for music, Ku Mohanan for cinematography and Beena Paul for editing. Touted to be an adventure thriller based in a forest, the film has been shot using the sync sound technology. According to reports, Carbon will deal with climate change and its implications. The film has been shot extensively in forests, particularly the Kattapana in Idukki, and Erattupetta and Pala. According to sources close to the film unit, the raw locations would be a feast for the eyes of the viewers. The makers of Carbon had arranged for a state-of-the-art camera to shoot the film and the quality of the visuals, once the film releases, will speak volumes for it.
