�Jal� spares Lanka, expected to make landfall in India today

Cyclone �Jal� which is currently 400 km northeast of Trincomalee has passed Sri Lanka and is expected to make landfall in South India, Sri Lankan Meteorological Department says.

However rough sea conditions and heavy rainfall is expected due to strong winds in the North. The rest of the island could expect rain and thunder showers during the course of the day.

Meanwhile Indian media reports that around 700 odd villages are being evacuated by Andhra Pradesh which is now the destination of cyclone JAL. Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur and Krishna districts are going through preparations as the cyclone is expected by today evening.
