Characteristics[]
The biometric scanner is a pre-War medical device that was used to diagnose patients. It can be found in hospitals and laboratories across the Commonwealth. One was kept as a part of a time capsule of pre-War treasures in the Jamaica Plain exhibit in 2077, donated by Milton General Hospital.[1]

Locations[]
Biometric scanners can be found in most medical and care facilities, as well as being random drops from turrets and sentry bots and from junk merchants. They can also be found in the following locations:
- Decrepit factory, next to a sensor module and file cabinet drawer with 2 Rad-X.
- On the Institute concourse.
- Outside Mass Bay Medical Center, in the room just off emergency admissions.
- Medford Memorial Hospital, on the second floor behind the advanced-locked door off the west side of the atrium.
- Med-Tek Research, on the Med-Tek sublevels in the same room as the "Prison Block" terminal which opens doors during the quest Long Road Ahead.
- Milton General Hospital, in the ward with the collapsed wall on the top floor.
- Parsons State Insane Asylum, in the office at the end of the cellblock.
- Sandy Coves Convalescent Home, one can be found in Mortimer's room (ground floor, on entry first room on the right with a nautical theme) on the ground behind the dresser.
- Fort Hagen satellite array on the desk with the terminal and Jezebel interview holotape. in

The biometric scanner is a component of the control console which is built during the Molecular Level quest, one of four signal interceptor parts used to gain access to the Institute.
